Can you hear the beat
The rhythm
The sound that my heart makes as it beats against my chest
I can feel it
I can see it, rising, falling
Steady
It's beating because it can feel you
It knows you're close to me
It's speeding up and pulsing harder
So that I can't ignore it
And it hurts
It beats and needs oxygen, so my breath starts to shake
Gets deeper
It rattles in my lungs and the beat of the heart and the shake of the air
Are telling me how much I want you
That I want to put my face in your neck and breathe you in
To place your hand on my heart so you realise
I want to press my chest against yours so our hearts beat in time
With each other
I want to touch your lips with mine so our breath mixes and I get dizzy
